Roulette FAQ

Roulette Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)

F.A.Q. 1 What is the difference between American and European Roulette?

  1. The European version of the roulette wheel has 37 numbered slots (1-36, plus a 0) whereas, the American version of the roulette wheel has 38 numbered slots (1-36, plus a 0 and 00). Other than this, the rules of the game are the same for both roulette versions.

F.A.Q. 2 How to start playing roulette?

  1. To play roulette players place their bets on a numbered layout covering a single number or groups of numbers. The roulette wheel is spun and a small white colored ball is released into the well of the wheel. A few seconds later the wheel stops and white ball lands on a particular number – that number is the winning number. Any roulette player who placed his bet on the winning number (on its own or in combination with other numbers), wins.

The payout depends on whether the player placed a bet on single numbers or on multiple numbers.

In the online roulette version, you use the computer cursor to select the desired amount of chips. Then you click on the number or position on the roulette table. Once you have placed all your bets, you click the 'Spin' button and the roulette wheel spins.

A bet placed can also be removed (before the roulette wheel is spun) by holding down the shift key and clicking on the bet to be removed.

All online roulette games display statistics including your available game balance, total amount bet, amount won, winning numbers, etc.

F.A.Q. 3 How to place bets on a roulette table and what pay outs can be expected?

  1. There are five types of bets that can be placed on a roulette table. These are:

  1. Straight up bet is a bet placed on any one number. The payout rate is usually 35:1

  2. Split bet is a bet placed in the middle of two adjacent numbers. The payout rate is usually 17:1

  3. Street bet is a bet placed at the end of a row of numbers. Since there are three columns on roulette table, a street bet covers the three numbers of the same row and the payout rate is usually 11:1

  4. Corner bet or square bet or quarter bet is a bet placed in the middle where any four numbers meet. The roulette corner bet covers four numbers and the payout rate is usually 8:1 and,

  5. Similar to a Street bet, a Line bet is a bet placed at the end of the street on line between two rows. This bet therefore covers 6 numbers and the payout rate is usually 5:1

F.A.Q. 4 what is a 'Live' Roulette table in the context of online casino?

A. A 'live' roulette table is one with a live croupier just like at a real brick-and-mortar casino. Also, accompanying the live croupier, quite naturally, they also have a real, physically spinning roulette wheel – not the virtual, button controlled stuff you see at other online roulette venues. Being live therefore, you can chat with the croupier.

Online casinos offering live roulette table usually do not offer a no-deposit sign-up bonus. The rules including types of bets stay the same.

F.A.Q. 5 Are there any guaranteed winning strategies that can be used on the roulette table?

A. In a single word, No! Roulette is a game of chance or luck. Your luck has a big factor in the amount of money you win, but there are many different roulette strategies that you can try out, so you have a system.

F.A.Q. 6 What if I bet $50 on 1-12 and $50 on 13-24 – aren't my odds of winning $50 a handsome 63%?

A. True! But what would be the logic of betting $100 to take home $50? We recommend you bet on any 35 numbers. The probability of winning will be 92%.

F.A.Q.7 Are there any betting strategies you recommend?

A. As explained in a reply to an earlier question, Roulette is a game of luck and betting strategies have no role to play in it. If you stay away from the 1-2-3 0-00-combination the house edge on any combination of bets would be 5.26%. There are betting strategies to increase the chances of a win but at the cost of winning less than your total wager. For example, if you bet on all three columns of the roulette table, the chances of winning are better than 90% but the amount you win will be less than the total amount you bet.

F.A.Q. 8 Do online casinos cheat at the roulette table?

A. These days most casinos conduct third-party audits and they also usually have a fairness policy. Logically, casinos do not need to cheat. The house edge ensures they win all the time. However, there have been instances of rouge dealers cheating in connivance with some players. If you notice anything suspicious, you should bring it to the notice of the management via the customer care.
